This collection of essays is not aimed specifically at Lipizzan owners, but one chapter was written by a long-time American Lipizzan owner and breeder who is a member of the Board of Directors of L.A.N.A. Dr. Delphi Toth’s contribution to this book was the chapter, “The Psychology of Woman and Horses,” which begins: “My great-grandmother was impatient to go to the stable in the early morning, too impatient to waste time sorting left boot from right boot. Her riding boots were made so that the left and right boots were identical. She could shove her feet into the boots--left-right, right-left, no matter--and go quickly to what was really important: the horses. The lives of her horses and the perpetuation of her Hungarian warmblood clover lines were more important to her than material considerations, so important that she exchanged heirloom family jewelry for hay and oats during wartime in Europe. For many women, it is a given that horses are crucial to living life meaningfully and happily. Material and financial sacrifices are made willingly to keep horses in our lives...”
